Biography

A product of the Dundee youth system, Lyall Cameron made his debut for the club against Raith Rovers in the Betfred Cup at the start of the 2019/2020 season, aged 16.

The midfielder has made a further two appearances for the club, starting the match in January 2020 against Dunfermline.

Lyall joined Peterhead on a season long loan on the 6th October 2020 but was recalled back to Dens on the 13th January 2021 after football in the lower leagues were suspended. He made 15 appearances, scoring 3 goals.

Lyall's affiliation with Peterhead continued when he joined them on a season long loan on the 17th June 2021 along with Josh Mulligan.

The midfielder would be recalled from his loan spell and then join Montrose until the end of that seaso, a move that the player himself said was a great move for him at the time.

The 22-23 season would prove to be Lyall's big breakthrough.

After a promising start which seen him score 5 goals mostly from the bench in the opening part of the season, Lyall would be given a starting place at home to Raith Rovers in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final against Raith Rovers and despite losing on penalties, his performance as well as his goal that game, showed he was about to become a big part of the team for the latter part of the season.

Cameron produced the type performances that not only was a massive part in Dundee winning the Championship but also with him winning Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year at Dundee's end of season awards ceremony.

Not only that, he was named in the PFA Scotland's Scottish Championship Team of the Year, as well as being named in the SPFL's Championship Team of the Season.

Cameron capped off a fine season by signing a new two-year extension with Dundee.
