Biography

A half-back, Gibby played for the club from 1945 until 1947. He signed from Morton and made a total of thirty-five competitive appearances for the club scoring two goals, winning a 'B' Division Championship in 1947.

He did make 76 appearances for the club before this, scoring three goals, but these were in the two seasons after the war that we're deemed unofficial.

However, early the following season, he was released and joined Airdrie. However, his Broomfield days were brief, returning to the city and joining Dundee United in January 1948. Again, it was to be a short-lived affair and he took up a coaching position with Kilmarnock in August 1949.

Gibby went into management in the fifties first as player/manager with Linfield, before taking over the reins at his first club, Morton for two seasons, before returning to Ireland and managing both north and south of the border - firstly at Portadown in 1958 and then on to Shelbourne in the sixties.
