Biography

A free transfer signing from Port Vale in 1978, Alan Lamb played in only one campaign for the club, making a total of twenty-nine appearances and scoring three goals.

However, his parting gift was a First Division Championship medal as Premier status was regained at the end of season 1978-79.

Prior to joining Dundee, the Falkirk-born midfielder began his career with Preston for whom he featured in 80 football league games, scoring four times.

Capped once by Scotland Under-23's, during his seven years at Deepdale, he moved to Port Vale in March 1977 and scored three times in fifty-four outings for the Potteries club before returning north of the border.

St Johnstone paid Dundee a moderate fee for his services in 1979, but it was a move that was doomed to failure as the switch to part-time football didn't suit him and though placed on the transfer list, he just drifted into football obscurity.
