Biography

Griffiths burst onto the scene with Livingston and his career could have tool a different path if Tony Mowbury wasn't sacked by West Bromwich Albion, whom he was he invited to train with at one time.

A move to Dundee was instead on the cards and in June 2009, Griffiths signed for the Dee in a £125,000 deal.

An instant hit at Dens Park, Leigh became a fans favourite but unfortunately in his first season, he couldn't stop the teams late season slump which seen them lose out to Inverness Caley Thistle for the First Division title.

He did play his part in the Final of the Alba Challenge Cup that season that seen the Dee come back from two-nil down to win the cup 3-2.

The following season, Dundee started the 2010-11 campaign off badly and the club would enter administration for a second time.

In the face of uncertainty, the team of players that were left pulled together and went on an unbelievable run to save the club from relegation, with Griffiths one of the stand outs.

His performances and vital goals alerted the attentions of possible suitors and Griffiths was sold to Wolves in at the end of January for around £150,000. This transfer fee, though not anywhere near the true valuation of the striker, was huge in the sense that it would be massive towards saving the club.

Leigh made one appearance in the League Cup during his first three seasons with Wolves but he was loaned out to Hibs for two of them, scoring 39 times in 78 games.

With Wolves relegated to League On for 2013-14, Griffiths found himself getting more game time and scored 12 league goals during that campaign.

The following season, his to earned him a move to Celtic for an undisclosed fee but it was understood to be for £1 million.

A hugely successful career with the Glasgow club seen Griffiths seen him win 7 league title, 3 Scottish Cups and 4 League Cups.

Due to off-field problems in 2018, he wouldn't feature as many times as previous season and despite being handed a one-year extension in 2021, Griffith was loaned to Dundee on a season long loan.
