Debut

September 23rd, 1893
Strathmore 2 - 4 Dundee

Scottish Cup (1st Round)

Timeline

  • While the important League fixture between the Dundee and the St Mirren was being decided at West Craigie Park, another team representing the Dundee met the Strathmore on Carolina Port in the second round of the Scottish Cup ties.

  • First Goal - Dundee 8 - 1 Renton

Notwithstanding the cold, bleak weather on Saturday, the League fixture between these teams drew a crowd numbering several thousands to West Craigie, and the game, although it turned out to be a one-sided affair, was by no means devoid of interest, particularly in the first line.

  • The Dundee team, with Messers Forbes, McLean, and Hill in charge. was forward in good time on Saturday morning, and Glasgow was reached at one o'clock. The team and officials dined in Ancell's Rooms, and Paisley was reached about 2.30. The storm, which had played sad havoc with the St Mirren's grand stand, was just about sent, and when the teams entered the enclosure the rain had cleared off, but the ground was in anything but a playable condition.

  • Last Appearance - Rangers 7 - 2 Dundee

Notwithstanding the counter attractions at Parkhead and Cathkin, there was a capital attendance at Ibrox Grounds to witness this match.
