From interviewing former footballers on YouTube, to developing a weekly podcast and fronting sell-out shows at the Glasgow Hydro, Simon ‘Si’ Ferry has become a household name to football fans across Scotland.
Born in Dundee, Simon Ferry signed for Celtic aged 12 and progressed through the youth ranks, where he was earmarked by coaches for progression into the first team.
Unfortunately a series of injuries curtailed Simon’s progress at Celtic, and the young midfielder failed to make a competitive appearance for the Hoops.
Simon moved to Swindon on loan in 2009 with Celtic teammate, and former Dee, Ben Hutchinson; before signing permanently in August 2020.
Simon became a crowd favourite during his time with the Robins, making over 170 appearances for the club. The midfielder was part of the Swindon team that clinched the League Two title under Paolo Di Canio in 2012.
After spending the 2013/2014 season with Portsmouth, Simon returned to Scotland to sign for Dundee in June 2014.
Simon was one of many new arrivals as Paul Hartley looked to reshape the squad for Premiership football.
A versatile midfielder – Simon had played in a deep midfield role during his time in England – but was signed by Paul Hartley to play in a more attacking role. Simon’s Dens Park career started brightly, as he scored in a 4-0 win over Peterhead in the League Cup in August 2014. Unfortunately, injury problems prevented Simon from playing consistently, and the midfielder made just 22 appearances for the club in the 2014/2015 season.
Simon made just one further appearance for Dundee, from the bench in the 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in August 2015, before leaving the club on the final day of the summer transfer window.
