Biography

German defender Thomas Konrad came through the youth system of Karlsruher SC, and made his debut for the 2. Bundesliga side in the 2009/2010 season.

The young defender later had a spell with Eintracht Trier, making 37 appearances before being released in 2014.

On the hunt for a new club, Thomas went on trial at Dens alongside compatriot Luka Tankulic in the summer of 2014. The duo starred as Dundee secured a stunning 2-0 friendly victory over English Premier League Champions Manchester City, and were both offered two-year contracts.


Thomas joined a Dundee side which had just secured promotion back to the top flight. A raft of new signings were brought in as Paul Hartley looked to reshape the squad for the challenge of the Premiership.

The German defender made an immediate impression, scoring vital goals in a 1-0 league victory over St Johnstone, and a 2-1 Scottish Cup victory over Aberdeen. Thomas was a dependable figure at the back for Dundee alongside James McPake, as Dundee secured a top six finish and their highest league position for 12 years

The German defender remained an ever-present in the Dundee side the following season, although Dundee were unable to match their previous league campaign and finished 8th in the league.

Thomas’ contract was not renewed, and he departed Dens in the summer of 2016 to sign for Vaduz of Lichtenstein.
