Biography

Rory Loy began his career at Rangers, and spent time on loan to Dunfermline Athletic and St Mirren. The striker made only two appearances for the Ibrox club in five seasons, and was released at the end of the 2010/2011 season.

Rory signed for Carlisle on a permanent contract in the summer of 2011. The striker won his only career silverware to date in his first season in Cumbria, as Carlisle lifted the Football League Trophy, defeating Brentford in the final. Rory was unfortunate to suffer a number of serious injuries during his time with Carlisle, including a broken leg sustained in a match against Preston, and was released at the end of his contract in the summer of 2013.

After a successful trial period, Rory signed for Scottish Championship side Falkirk. Rory discovered the best form of his career under Gary Holt, scoring 22 goals in 43 appearances during his first season with the Bairns. The striker also made the Championship Team of the Year. Rory’s form attracted the interest of a number of clubs, and Dundee manager Paul Hartley won the race for his signature, when he put pen to paper on a pre contract agreement in February 2015.

Rory’s Dens Park career started brightly, scoring twice on his debut in a 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. After netting 7 times in his first 11 games for Dundee between August and November, Rory didn’t score again until April, in the 5-2 victory over Ross County. The striker ended the season with 9 goals in 33 games.

Rory started the 2016/2017 season as he had the previous one, with a double in a 3-1 victory over Ross County in Dingwall. Rory later found the net in a 2-1 loss to St Johnstone in October 2016; however the striker only made a further three appearances for the club in the first half of the season.

In January, Rory was loaned to St Mirren for the rest of the season, and left Dundee by mutual consent in July 2017.

Since leaving Dundee, Rory has re-signed for Falkirk and later played for Dumbarton.
