Biography

Born in Greenock, midfielder Nicky Low progressed through the youth ranks at Aberdeen, making his debut from the bench in a 3-0 victory over Hearts.

Nicky spent time on loan to Forfar Athletic and Alloa Athletic to gain first team experience, and the midfielder was handed a more prominent role within the Dons squad.

Nicky scored his first goal for Aberdeen in a 1-0 victory over Ross County in December 2013. In March 2014, Nicky struck for Aberdeen in their shootout victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the League Cup final, the northeast club’s first silverware for 19 years.

Nicky’s Aberdeen contract was ending at the conclusion of the 2014/2015 season, and the midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement with Dundee in April 2015.

A useful squad player for Dundee, Nicky made 23 appearances for the Dark Blues in his first season on Tayside. In his second appearance Nicky provided both assists in a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone.

A diminutive midfield player, Nicky was hampered by several injuries during his second season at Dens. When his fitness allowed, Nicky’s talent was evident for all to see; in his first appearance of the 2016/2017 season he scored a remarkable free kick in a 3-1 defeat to Inverness.

Unfortunately Nicky suffered an ankle injury in the following game against Celtic, and in January 2017 Dundee allowed Nicky to go on loan Derry City. The move was later made permanent in May 2018.

Nicky later played for East Stirlingshire and Queen of the South before signing for Arbroath in 2021.
