Biography

Goalkeeper David Mitchell played in the youth team for Ayr United before joining Stranraer on loan in 2009. A year later the loan was made permanent, and David established himself as the first choice goalkeeper, making 204 appearances for the Stair Park club. He was part of the Stranraer squad that was promoted to the Second Division in 2012, part of the fallout of Rangers’ relegation down to the Third Division.

David moved to Dundee in the summer of 2015. The goalkeeper was backup to Scott Bain for the majority of his Dens Park career. David made his debut for Dundee from the bench against Dundee United at Tannadice in March 2016, after Scott Bain was dismissed for conceding a penalty. Despite conceding late in the game as United snatched a 2-2 draw, David acquitted himself well and made a number of good saves. David kept his place in goal for the 5-2 defeat of Ross County at Dens the following week, before returning to the bench after Scott Bain returned from suspension.

David remained understudy to Scott Bain the following season, and departed Dundee in May 2017 after making 6 appearances for the club over 2 seasons.

Since leaving Dens Park David has had spells at Falkirk and Clyde. In 2021 David signed for Hibernian.
