Biography

Born in France, Faissal El Bakhtaoui began his career with Racing Club de la Baie.

The striker travelled to Scotland to further his career, catching the eye of then Dunfermline Athletic manager Jim Jeffries, and signed for the Pars in the summer of 2012.

Faissal featured sparingly for Dunfermline in his first season in Scotland, making only two appearances in all competitions. Following Dunfermline’s relegation to the new Scottish League One in 2012/2013, the striker began to feature more regularly in the Pars first team.

In 2015/2016 Faissal hit 30 goals in 41 appearances as Dunfermline won the League One title and clinched promotion to the Championship. In his final season at Dunfermline, Faissal’s excellent form attracted the interest of a number of clubs.

A free agent after his contract with the Pars expired, Dundee snapped up the striker on a three year deal in August 2016. While not a prolific scorer during his time at Dens, scoring 8 goals in 66 appearances, Faissal become known for stunning long range efforts. A stunning strike against Celtic during a 2-1 defeat at Dens drew praise from then Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

Faissal’s finest hour in a Dundee jersey came in a League Cup match against Dundee United at Dens in August 2017. The striker opened the scoring with a stunning half volley as Dundee triumphed 2-1 to progress to the League Cup quarter finals.

Faissal spent the 2018/2019 season on loan to Dunfermline Athletic, where he struggled to recapture the form he showed during his first spell with the club, scoring 3 goals in 33 appearances. After being released by Dundee the striker had a brief spell with Queen of the South before moving to play for Difaa El Jadidi in Morocco.

He currently plays for Italian side Nocerina.
