Biography

Roarie Deacon started his career at Premier League clubs Arsenal and Sunderland, playing regular reserve team football. He did not make a first team appearance for either club, and after leaving Sunderland at the end of his contract, signed for Stevenage in League One in March 2013.

After spending two years at Stevenage, the midfielder signed for Crawley Town, scoring 5 goals in 40 appearances in the 2015/2016 season. When his contract at Crawley expired, Roarie signed for National League side Sutton United.

The 2016/2017 season was the most impressive of Roarie’s senior career to date, as he finished as the club’s joint top scorer with 13 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions, and received the Players’ player of the season and Supporters Player of the Season awards. The midfielder also helped Sutton reach the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history, before falling to a 2-0 defeat against his boyhood team Arsenal.

Following his heroics for Sutton, Roarie signed a contract with Dundee under Neil McCann in the summer of 2017. Roarie scored his only goal for the Dark Blues in a 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie in August 2017. Deployed mostly as a wide midfielder, he also laid on 4 assists for his teammates in 34 games across all competitions in his first season at Dens.

Roarie’s career at Dundee was hampered by injuries, and he made just 7 appearances – the last being the 3-0 Scottish Cup replay defeat to Queen of the South – in his second season at Dundee before departing by mutual consent in January 2019.

After leaving Dundee, Roarie returned to Sutton United in February 2019, scoring 1 goal in 16 games.

In the summer of 2019, the midfielder moved on to Havant and Waterlooville, playing in the sixth tier of English football.

  • The Dee headed home over the Tay from Kirkcaldy with three points and a sense of relief after a keenly contested 2-1 win over Raith Rovers. The match looked likely to be settled by penalties until it exploded into life in the last 10 minutes. Debutant Sofien Moussa came off the bench to put Dundee ahead but when Lewis Vaughan equalised on the stroke of full time spot kicks looked inevitable. However, Jack Hendry, who was also making his competitive debut, headed the winner in front of the delighted travelling support deep into injury time.
