Biography

Tony Docherty brought Trevor Carson to Dens Park in the summer of 2023 to provide competition to fellow new goalkeeper John McCracken as the new manager looked to stamp his authority down for his first managerial gig.

He quickly took over between the sticks from the on-loan Englishman who played in the majority of the League Cup group stages and the season opener and with McCracken recalled not long after the start of the season, Trevor Carson found the no.1 jersey his.

The start to his Dundee career started off strongly with seven clean sheets from his fist fifteen appearances as the club adjusted well on their return to the top-flight after a one-year absence.

An knee injury in February 2025 forced Carson to miss a considerable amount of the remaining season with returning keeper McCracken taking his place in the team.

The following season McCracken would start the season as the first choice goalkeeper with some fleeting appearances from Carson but with a lack of clean sheets and some notable blunders, Trevor would see himself finding his name at the team sheet more and cemented his place back as the clubs no.1 with a memorable display during Dundee's 1-0 victory over city rivals Dundee United in the Scottish Cup at the turn of the year.

The club did struggle to hit the heights of the previous seasons top-six finish and narrowly escaped being dragged into the dreaded play-off spot and Carson was a vital part of the reason why with some match-winning saves along the way.

Carson did start the 25/26 season as he ended as the first pick but after two disastrous back-to-back defeats at the hand of lower league opposition, McCracken would replace him and this time, he would keep the position that both had played hot potato with the last few season.

With chances now very much limited and rumours that Carson was unable to train full-time, he joined Ross County on a season-long loan, linking back up with old manager Tony Docherty who had taken up the reigns in Dingwall after his sacking at Dundee.
