Biography

McCowan signed for Ayr United In 2017 and it would take him a few seasons to break into the first team.

He did so at the start of the 2019 season and for the next few years, became and integral part of their starting XI.

He made 78 appearances and scored 19 goals.

He signed for Dundee on the 1st June 2020, with the Dark Blues beating off Dundee United for the wingers signature.

In McCowan's first few seasons with Dundee, the tricky winger made 76 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive 15 times.

Luke was a big part of the team that won the Championship in the 22-23 season and he saved his best for last with a fine man of the match display display vs Queens Park which included and exceptional solo goal to scored Dundee's 5th to put both hands onto the league title.

With Tony Docherty taking the reigns at Dens Park that summer, McCowan signed a two-year extension to keep him at the club until 2025.

That season, Luke proved to be a pivotal part of the team, often being the creative force while on the park, contributing massively with assists and goal. This would ultimately alert him to possible suitors and with Luke being in the last year of his contract, he was sold to Celtic for a reported £1 million plus deal which included add ons on transfer deadline day.

In the last few months of Luke's Dundee career, he would find himself being handed the captains arm band and amongst the goals as The Dee got their season off to a flyer.
