Biography

Bobby Waddell joined Dundee in the summer of 1959, going on to be a familiar name in the squad across his five years with the club. Part of the set up as The Dark Blues would win their one and only Scottish League Championship title in 1961/62, Waddell wasn’t a regular feature in the side during that time but did make some telling contributions on the pitch as Dundee triumphed over the rest of Scottish Football.

Leaving Dens Park Waddell would head south, spending the 1966/67 season with Blackpool before joining Bradford Park Avenue for the next campaign. By the summer of ‘67 Waddell was back in Scotland, this time with East Fife, where he would turn out for The Methil Men for a further three years.

Montrose would be Waddell’s final club, as he headed to Links Park for the 1970/71 season, although when that term came to end, so would the forward’s twelve year playing career.

Bobby Waddell may not be one of the famous Dundee eleven that rolls off the tongue of those who sing of the Championship winning side, but like the other fringe players from the time, his contribution towards Dundee lifting the Scottish League title should never be forgotten.
