Biography
Derek Ferguson was signed by Gordon Wallace on loan from Rangers in January 1989. It was the ideal opportunity for Ferguson to show the top teams what he was made of after failing to live up to his potential at Ibrox. Although the original deal was only for a month it was extended for a further two.
At the time Ferguson joined the club Dundee where bottom of the league and desperate for a win. In his first game against Hibs, he helped inspire them to a 2-0 win, but unfortunately that was the only victory in the four games he played before injury brought his brief spell at Dens to a premature end.
He later went onto play for Hearts, Sunderland, Falkirk, Dunfermline, Partick Thistle, Adelaide Force (now City), Ross County and Clydebank where he became their player/manager.
