Biography
Derek began his career with Broxburn Athletic from whom he was signed in 1984. He made his first appearance for Dundee against Aberdeen in the 1985-86 season.
In total, the winger only made another thirty-five appearances for the club over two seasons. His first goal, of the four he scored, came against Dundee United in a 4-3 victory at Tannadice.
Derek went on loan to Stirling Albion in season 1986- 87, before making a permanent move to Falkirk in 1987.
Spending four seasons at Brockville, he made 120 appearances, scoring 41 goals for the Bairns before moving to Dunfermline in 1991. For the Pars, he played 69 games, finding the net nine times, going on to Partick Thistle and Clydebank, before then returning to Firhill.
