John Horsburgh joined the club in 1958 and initially had the task of playing understudy to both Bill Brown and Pat Liney. That afforded him no first team exposure until the transfer of Brown to Spurs in 1959.
His debut came in the opening match of the following season 1959-60 when the Dark Blues lost their opening League Cup tie at Motherwell 4-2. But after playing in the first five games of that campaign, he only made four more appearances, - all the following season when standing in for Pat Liney.
His ninth and final outing came in a 2-1 defeat at Rugby Park in February 1960 and he was released at the end of the season.
