Mike served Clyde for five seasons after stepping up from St Roch's in 1953 before arriving at Dens Park.
However, for most of that time at Clyde, the keeper had to play second fiddle to first, South African Ken Hewkins and latterly Tommy McCulloch. They kept him out of the 1955 and 1958 Bully Wee cup winning sides of those years.
He was only a regular between the sticks at Shawfield for the second half of season 1955-56 and the following season, though he did play in the 1956 Scottish Cup semi-final when Celtic defeated them.
Freed after 78 appearances in April 1958, Mike joined Dundee, but was destined to spend only one season at Dens Park. Perhaps that wasn't too big a surprise, given that Bill Brown and Pat Liney were already on the books. He managed just two appearances - in a 2-0 home win over Raith in January 1958 and in a 1-1 draw at Airdrie in the final game of the season shortly before being freed.
