Biography
Dave McLaren would begin his career aboard with Hong Kong FC and Penang. This was because he was completing his National Service as a radar technician with the RAAF.
McLaren would enjoy a long and illustrious career south of the border after his tint at Dundee, that only seen him play for the Dark Blues once as he had to play second fiddle to the great Bill Brown.
That appearance was in a 2-1 defeat by Hearts in September 1956 at Tynecastle.
Early the following year, the Perthshire-born keeper moved to Leicester City and later played for Plymouth Argyle, Wolves and Southampton where he finished his career in 1967. After retiring from the playing side, he made a name for himself in various coaching capacities abroad.
