Dundee's long-serving defensive lynchpin Bobby Glennie has never been shown to be one to flinch responsibility-a fact highlighted in his own testimonial affair at Dens Park yesterday.
Many would have shied clear of threatened embarrassment after he had seen a well-struck 47th minute spot-kick award saved by City goalkeeper Eric Nixon, but not the bold Bobby!
Just three minutes after that failure, a second penalty award was granted the Dark Blues and the 29-year-old stepped up to confidently blast home the goal which eventually earned his side a deserved share of the points.
All in all, Bobby's day proved to be one of the utmost in footballing pleasures but sadly only around 3000 fans took the opportunity of paying tribute to his eight-year service at Dens.
Latest home addition, Danny Crainie, all but booked himself a "terracing favourite" tag inside the opening minutes, with a searching cross which Ray Stephen got to, but directed wide with his forehead.
Dundee paid for that miss in 15 minutes when speed merchant Dave White sped up the touchline, swept in an early cross, and big striker Darren Beckford did the rest with a simple but effective side-footed finish.
After Robert Connor's deter- mination on the left created an opening in the 27th minute, Ray Stephen found himself with time and space to measure his finish into the far corner of the net from ten yards.
Four minutes from the interval City renewed their lead when Gordon Davies lured Bobby Geddes from his goal and his strike was earmarked for the far postage stamp corner the minute it left his foot.
Then came the Glennie penalty sequence, the first being awarded when City's Phil Redmond handled in the area, and the second after the same defender had felled substitute Albert Kidd
