Manager's Programme Notes

The only thing more disappointing than last week's result has been the number of injuries we have had to contend with this season.

Teams are always going to be hit with the usual 'pulls' and 'strains' but we have had more serious injuries than that.

At some stage thus far, Stuart Rafferty, John Brown, Tosh McKinlay, George McGeachie, Gordon Chisholm, Vince Mennie, Bobby Glennie and Alan Lawrence, have all been out for over a month at a time and not to mention Jim Duffy who has had to retire.

I am not using this as an excuse for any of our poor results but it certainly does not help our preparation for our games.

Obviously the number of games in what must surely be one of the most competitive leagues has a lot to do with the injury problem as players don't have enough time between games to recover.

Gordon Chisholm has had a successful operation on his back and left hospital on Thursday. He is hoping to get back to full fitness and play a few games before the end of the season.

I am sure you all wish him the same speedy recovery, and we hope all the injuries clear up soon so we have everyone available for the run-in to the end of the season and let's not forget the Scottish Cup.
