Manager's Programme Notes

Normally I would start my programme piece by welcoming both sets of supports asking to the match. It saddens me that I am not able too so that this evening.

We have done everything we can through our pre season schedule to make the players feel like nothing has changed but in truth nothing can replace the presence and atmosphere created by you the fans.

The support home and away is always a huge driving force for us. We are adapting to 'the new normal' but it's tough and we already can't wait to welcome everyone back to their rightful place in the stands.

While on the supporters, I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for the backing over some of the toughest months I've ever experienced in football. From those who joined the 1893 Foundation and bought Season Tickets to those who sent any supportive messages. We are all in this together and it was heartening to see everyone come together.

The players and staff made sacrifices for the club which shows me how much they have bought into being part of Dundee Football Club.

I also have to mention the directors and non football staff who worked tirelessly through the tough times. Also the Academy staff who have also made sacrifices and it's great to see the young teams back up and running.

The Academy is the backbone of this club and we've already seen examples of it show through this pre season. Specifically young Ewan Murray who put in a fine display and got his first Dundee goal at just 15 years old last week.

The pre-season campaign has been different but good. We have had to stick to strict restrictions every day at training and also at the games. Despite it not being the same without the fans, it has been great to get back and see the team playing again. Our performances have improved game on game and now we are ready to take the step back into competitive action.

We know Forfar will provide a tough opposition. It's a game we can't take lightly but also one we have been looking forward to for a long time. We have done our work and everyone at the club can't wait to get the season underway.
