The football season was begun at Aberdeen on Saturday. The Victoria United opened their grounds with a friendly match with Dundee.

The teams were:- Dundee - Barret; Darroch and Burgess; Longair, Hendry, and Dundas ; Gilligan, Macdonald, Lonie, Ford, and Keillor.

Victoria United - Gillespie; Caie and Ririe; Morrice, Gall, and Annand; Morrison, Macfarlane, Cadger, Burnett, and Ritchie.

The game was a rather one-sided one, Dundee showing superior form all round. The Vics, by hard pressing on several occasions, almost succeeded in scoring, but erratic shooting and want of effective tactics prevented them. The Dundee men, on the other hand, played steadily, and again and again succeeded in breaking through the enemy's defence. Shortly after the commencement of the game Keillor kicked the ball through the posts with little effort, and immediately after Ford did the same.

Immediately before half-time Keillor again distinguished himself, and when the teams stopped to breathe, Dundee had 3 goals and the local men nil.

Twice in succession on the resumption of play, the Vics. were within an ace of scoring, but Dundee's goalkeeper was ever on the alert to nullify their efforts, By a grand combination run, Lonie scored the fourth goal for Dundee, and shortly after Lonie again distinguished himself by notching a fifth goal.

The Vics, on more than one occasion after this had hard lines in not scoring, and their spirits sank to zero when Dundee scored their sixth goal.

The game ended-Dundee, 6 goals; Aberdeen, 0.
