Manager's Programme Notes

It was very disappointing to lose our unbeaten record last week at Raith Rovers. I felt that the players commitment and effort was once again tremendous and we could and should have taken a point from the game. I made my feelings known on the reasons for that after the game and do not intend to repeat them, but we can feel encouraged by the spirit and desire shown to keep us in the League. I asked for the supporters to turn out and give us their full support in very difficult circumstances as we were missing players and once again you never let us down.

When the players returned to training this week we were only looking forward to the game today, as that is all we can influence now. We will be missing Gary Irvine, Craig McKeown and Rhys Weston through suspension and that is not ideal but it is a situation we find ourselves in and have had time to try things out in training this week. Ross County and Cowdenbeath have both gained points in the last week but we still have a narrow lead over them and we must ensure that we maintain that gap, starting today.

Stirling Albion have a very important battle of their own to fight today but I can only be interested in getting another three points for Dundee. Jocky Scott and I are good friends but we have both been in the game long enough to put aside that friendship for today and concentrate on our own jobs. I am here to make sure Dundee stay in the Division and that is where all my energy will be channelled.

We only have two more home games left this season and our record at Dens has been excellent but what has happened before won't help us today. We must go out and earn the points that will get us to safety right from the very first whistle and maintain that commitment throughout the 90 minutes. The staff, players and supporters have come so far together this season and we must maintain that desire over the next five weeks to achieve our aim.
