Match Report

Kevin McDonald fired home a 20-yard cracker to earn Dundee a draw at Stair Park. His goal came three minutes from half time to equalise after Stephen Payne's cross cum shot had sneaked in via a post. Dundee failed to have enough efforts at goal when playing with a strong wind at their backs in the first forty-five minutes.

After the interval, however, they defended well, but when attacking didn't make any clear-cut chances s overall, the draw was a fair refection of the play.

Dundee fell behind in ten minutes, and from an unlikely source, Stephen Payne appeared to be going nowhere when he sauntered down the right and his cross appeared over hit, but it curled in the wind and rattled off the far post and into the net.

Trying to hit back quickly McDonald surged forward two minutes later before firing in a decent shot, Barry John Corr comfortably made the save though. Stranraer could have been two up in 17 minutes Payne's cross being headed wide by Michael Moore.

Steven Robb got past the full back in 33 minutes and fired in a cross cum shot but Corr handled it well.

Stranraer had a penalty claim turned down as Moore went down when Murray dived at this feet, but referee Sproule waved play on.

Bryan Deasley was next to try his luck, firing a snap shot just off target, but Dundee would soon be level, Kevin McDonald whacking home the equaliser with three minutes remaining of the first half.

The small travelling support were momentarily bouncing minutes later as Robertson and Rob combined to feed in Deasley, the youngster's finish was expert, but the assistant referee's flag was already up for offside.

With the wind behind them the home side pushed forward after the break but it was Dundee who carved out the first chance after the interval. Deasley's good work afforded Robb space and he lashed a left footer from outside the box just over in 50 minutes.

Just after the hour Robb again tried his luck, racing through a couple of challenges but his shot from distance was well over.

Alan Kernaghan replaced Deasley with top scorer, Simon Lynch but chances didn't become any easier to come by for the Dee, and indeed it was at the other end that goals were more likely.

With quarter of an hour left, lan Harty got on the end of a cross but his header was well held by Murray, and just a minute later Stranraer came closer with the last real chance of the match, Hinds' cross being met by Hamilton six yards out. His header beat Murray and crashed off the bar before falling down with Barry Smith doing superbly well to get back and head clear off the line.
