Match Report

Hibs were suckered by the best smash-and-grab raid of the season from Dundee's hard-working Foreign Legion.

But it was two young Scots - Gavin Rae and Steven Milne- who delivered the killer blows to land the shock victory.

The game had just entered injury time with the Easter Road crowd urging their men on for one last push to find a winner. But, with lack of cover at the back, Juan Sara head-flicked the ball through to Milne on the left, and he fired a blistering left-foot drive high past Nick Colgan.

Hibs fans reacted with a mixture of bewilderment and anger, after John O'Neil had been sent off in controversial circumstances two minutes earlier.

He had been booked in 75 minutes, then was shown a second yellow as he tumbled in the penalty area after an innocuous-looking Walter del Rio challenge.

Dundee had set out their stall by stringing five midfielders across the pitch, and Alex McLeish's players did find it difficult to pass their way through.

Dundee had Temuri Ketsbaia making his debut, and, although the touches that made the Georgian a star with Newcastle were still there, he clearly lacked games and was replaced by Sara.

Dundee soaked up Hibs brisk early push, to stun the home side with a spectacular goal after only 18 minutes.

Fabian Caballero slipped the ball inside to Rae, and the young Scotland star sent a right-foot drive raging past Colgan from just inside the penalty area.

In the other goal, Jamie Langfield was having a hesitant afternoon and, when he lost an O'Neil cross, was fortunate that Ian Murray's drive from the rebound struck his body.

He then changed his mind over coming for another cross, and Grant Brebner was just a foot high with his shot.

Sixty seconds later, Tom McManus raced into the box on to a de la Cruz pass, but, after tempting Langfield from his line, the striker placed his shot wide of the far post.

Langfield regained some confidence two minutes before the interval when he dived full length to touch away a ferocious Franck Sauzee free-kick from 25 yards. But he blundered again just on half-time when a long ball tempted him out to the edge of the box and Craig Brewster got there first to out-jump him and net the equaliser.

Four minutes into the second half, del Rio. produced an astonishing clearance to keep Dundee level. Brewster stooped to beat Langfield with a close-in header and the Argentinian stretched out a desperate, late leg to hook the ball clear.

Brewster, McManus and O'Neil all had half-chances to edge Hibs in front before "Savo" Milne's astonishing injury-time stunner.
