The only way things can get any worse for Jocky Scott and Bobby Williamson is if they are appointed joint coaches of the Scotland rugby team. That, of course, should not
be wished on anybody. But, like lan McGeechan, these two fellows from Killie and Dundee certainly don't have their sorrows to seek.
On reflection, the one consolation both have is their lads are better at getting the ball over the bar than McGeechan's misfits.
But this lot, sad to relate, aren't so much unstoppable as unstartable! To be fair to the lads from the shores of the silvery Tay and sunny Ayrshire, there hasn't been much luck for either of late.
Without really playing all that badly, both have been failing miserably to cash in on the fruits of their labours.
But let there not be the slightest doubt about it, both are going to have big problems getting themselves out of the mire at the bottom of the league.
For one simple reason both look to have about as much faith in their ability as that afore mentioned rugger side of ours.
Maybe this draw, however, could add that vital spark both camps so badly need. But there is absolutely no doubt who'll take more consolation out of this one and it won't be Bobby Williamson.
His lot got themselves deservedly two up and looked to be coasting to three precious points. It's no wonder the final outcome left Jocky with, nearly, a smile on his face.
For once, his troops held on to the towel and refused to throw it in. In the end, the Dens Parkers deserved a share of things and might well have nicked it late on when Killie had a real doze of the jitters.
The Killie opener was sent into the net in great style by Durrant, who must have been agog at the time and space he was allowed in which to do the business.
Gary Holt's pass found him no problem whatsoever and Ian could have stopped to tie his lace before sending a a rasper behind the goalie.
The second was all down to perseverance, with both sets of players pushing, shoving and lashing out at fresh air in the box.
Tosh McKinlay's corner into the heap in the area started the mayhem, which ended, no-one knows how, with Fredy Dindeleux sweeping the ball high into the net, over the top of what seemed to be the whole population of Kilmarnock.
What was thought to be a late consolation for Dundee was put away with Eddie Annand's first touch of the ball after coming on as a substitute. Willie Falconer put him through and his side-footer low into the corner didn't give the goalie a look in.
Gavin Rae set up the not undeserved equaliser with a crossbfrom the right. James Grady's diving header was in the net before Gordon Marshall could move.
There were two bookings Barry Smith for dissent and James Grady for doing his nut after scoring.
Man-of-the-Match - STEVEN BOYACK. On a pitch. like a clootie dumpling, the Dundee midfielder seldom put a foot wrong.
