Match Report

The mood within the Dark Blue camp was no less dampened despite defeat at Ibrox, casting the team back to the foot of the table.

On the plus side, Rangers only sneaked the three points thanks to a typical Jorg Albertz pile-driver with seven minutes remaining. Prior to that the team had defended well, particularly in the first half.

Robert Douglas was in outstanding form, making a splendid save from Johansson whilst Brian Irvine marshalled the defence to restrict Rangers to a handful of chances.

The only criticism which could have been possibly levelled at them was that after the interval, the defending was done just a little too deep. But even at that, there were chances for the Dark Blues to have even won the game.

Two fell to Eddie Annand in the first half, whilst Shaun McSkimming pushed an effort wide when clean through on Charbonnier early in the second half.

"If Shaun had put the ball in the net then who knows," mused man ager Jocky Scott afterwards.

But as we all now know, it wasn't to be, and but for Robert Douglas saving Albertz's spot-kick after the keeper had conceded a penalty in injury time, the deficit might have been undeservedly greater.
