Dundee are back in the top flight after an absence of four seasons.
They got the point they needed in a scrappy, but entertaining, game at Starks Park to spark off amazing celebrations among their huge travelling support.
The Dark Blues hadn't lost away from home all season, but were made to work hard to keep that record intact.
Rovers were the better side for long periods, and more clinical finishing could have seen them ahead by the break.
Dundee's best effort of the half was a mishit shot from Annand which Anderson was only inches away from reaching.
Rovers took a deserved lead with a fine goal. Lennon's superbly lofted ball caught out the visitors' defence, and Hartley neatly turned Rogers before sliding the ball past Douglas.
But their hopes of spoiling the Dundee party ended when the visitors drew level.
Fotheringham fouled Adamczuk and Dundee scored from the free-kick. Van de Kamp came for Anderson's cross, but missed it completely and Annand was left the simplest task of heading into the empty net.
The visitors almost snatched the winner when a late Grady's header beat the keeper, but it came back off the bar.
They were then made to weather a late Rovers onslaught, but held firm to ensure Premier League football at Dens Park next season.
