Match Report

The game billed as the First Division's match-of-the- day proved to be exactly that, mainly for the energy put in.

What was lacking, however, was a bit of guile and, although it was end-to-end action, the keepers were seldom tested.

Mathers was slow to clear early on and, when the ball hit off James Grady, he was fortunate to see it slip just wide of the post.

It was the Bairns who broke the deadlock with a smashing goal.

Martyn Corrigan broke down the right and crossed for David Moss to power home a header from 12 yards.

Falkirk continued to press, but Dundee held firm and were quick to break, with Mathers saving bravely at the feet of Anderson.

Anderson, however, was forced to leave the field six minutes later, John Elliot replacing, but there was little change to the pattern of play until right on half-time when Dundee have levelled.

Annand bundled the ball over the line after Irvine headed a free-kick back across goal, but the ball was adjudged to have gone over the by-line.

In the second half, Falkirk were on top for spells but, when Lawrie and skipper McGowan both missed a hopeful forward ball, Annand squared to Elliot, who slotted home from six yards.
