Unconvincing Dundee kept their promotion bid on track.
Full-back Barry Smith made the points secure when he headed strongly past Mark McGeown from substitute John Elliot's cross three minutes from time.
It was a bitter blow for the home side, who battled bravely through- out and, inspired by new signings Frenchman Landry Zahani-Oni and Norwegian Atle Nilsen, created more clear cut chances than the visitors.
But the Dens men deserved credit for coming from behind to get themselves out of jail.
Stirling took the lead in 37 minutes when Gary Carberry brilliantly turned Neil Bennet's cross past the keeper in a crowded penalty box.
Anderson scorned a chance to break the deadlock when he raced through unchallenged, only for McGeown to make a brave diving save at his feet.
Stirling's hopes of clinching their first win over the Tayside men for 19 years, were looking rosy until. the visitors equalised in 65 minutes.
Anderson collected Russell Kelly's through ball in his stride and showed good composure to fire into the net past the advancing keeper.
McLaren and Nilsen both came close before Dundee's late points-pincher.
