Manager's Programme Notes

What a tremendous incentive this Skol Cup Competition is. To think that you can qualify for Europe by the end of October!!

We certainly could do with a little bit of that. And a little bit of the other! I've been involved in many cup matches in my career and I know at this very moment just how our opponents feel at this moment of time. And only one bite at the cherry! We are in for a very exciting match tonight.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all supporters for their magnificent effort against Aberdeen. I know the players appreciated your vital response. Let's keep it going together!

A few injuries have cropped up again and I don't really know the team for tonight but the good news is that Tommy Coyne is off the injury list and is available for selection.

This always causes a manager very serious thinking of whether to keep the same team or bring in someone of Tommy's reputation. You will soon find out how I decided. But this is where a good squad system has its strength.

Finally a word about the squad and the signing of new players. I have always been of the opinion that players can always and have the capacity to improve and develop their abilities so much further than they can expect. Some players hide their light under a bushel and never see the opportunity while others do make vital progress. We will certainly add to the squad if and when it is necessary and of course when its within our means to so. The present squad of players can and will do better!

Just and oddity:

"He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a fool... Shun him. He who knows not and knows not that he knows is asleep... Awake him".

Recognise anybody? I certainly do!

Yours the 'Dundee Bard'!

Dave.
