Manager's Programme Notes


A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF A FOOTBALL MANAGER

Mon 9 Nov: Quiet day at Dens with first team players having day off. At night played in an old crocks game with Drew Jarvie and rivals Jim McLean, Gordon Wallace and Atholl Henderson plus other ex players. Won comfortably.

Tues 10 Nov: All the players on the track for a running session in the morning. Afternoon dealing with office work. S. Form training at night down in Glasgow.

Wed 11 Nov: Training at local park. Couldn't take any part in training because of aching legs from Monday's game. Presented cup after a College Cup Final, then home to watch the Bulgaria v Scotland game. Broke a charity bottle in a local pub at night.

Thurs 12 Nov: Training at local park with players, short and sharp session. Young players off in afternoon because reserve game at night. Late afternoon, myself and Drew take the S. Form training at Dens. which is followed directly by the reserve game v Celtic Reserves. Lost 2-1. Home to bed.

Fri 13 Nov: Quiet day, light training session. Home in afternoon to relax for a change. At night, off to Greenock Morton Supporters Club to present a jersey of Jim Duffy's at a function for his benefit.

Sat 14 Nov: Everyone gathered at Park in the morning to travel to Glasgow. Lunch at hotel on out skirts of Glasgow prior to game at Parkhead. Lose game 5-0. Afterwards travel down to Manchester for overnight stay.

Sun 15 Nov: Scotland select v England select at Manchester United's training ground. The game was played indoors in their huge gym. After the game, lunch, then on to Old Trafford to see Manchester United v Liverpool. Home around 10 p.m. and off to bed to prepare for the next week.
