Bairn County's little party is over, but oh, NA how their players enjoyed their 90-minute stint here even if they were on the end of a seven- goal drubbing!

They tried to go forward at all times, and it was not until they were six goals down with the same number of minutes left that the fire went out of their bellies.

Dundee were a well-organised, methodical side and it was their clinical finishing inside the danger area they get most praise for.

Involved in most of their attacks was ex-Keith lad Colin Hendry who had a tremendous first half on the left wing, and, moving into the middle after the interval, was involved in practically every goal.

Harvey hit a spanking hat-trick and, with Duffy wiping up any Nairn attack, of which there were not many, there was only going to be one result.

The score was to be expected, and there were no tales of the unexpected.

We in the North still believe in miracles, but we will have to wait yet another season.

Nairn got off to a bad start when they lost two quick goals.

A McKinlay free kick into the goalmouth bobbed about between Nairn defenders, but broke to Shannon, who smashed it home.

The Dundee cheers had hardly died down when again McKinlay knocked the ball into the Nairn penalty area.

It broke to Harvey, and he hit a lovely volley into the left- hand corner.

Nairn did have a good chance when Cameron, on the overlap, bore in on goal.

But, just as he was about to shoot, the ball bobbled and he hit the side net.

When Harvey notched his second goal, just before half-time, the game was all over as a contest, the ball bouncing off MacMillan's chest for the centre to nod home.

After the interval Dundee resumed where they left off and in another defensive mix-up the ball struck Hendry and bounced back into the net.

Number five was left to Shannon who smacked in an angled drive after the ball had gone across the face of the goal.

The next was the best of the match. A good link up by Dundee players left Rafferty and Hendry to work the wall pass. Rafferty took the return and struck a glorious shot, giving MacMillan no chance.

Hendry, now back on the left-wing, beat Main, cut in, and slipped the ball to Harvey who only had to push it over the line for number seven.

Dundee could have made it eight after Cleland brought down Hendry in the box, but Harvey struck the bar from the spot-kick.
