Newspaper extract from The Courier.
Dundee earned yet another precious Premier point-but this was a 90 minutes which started full of fire and ambition and ended by almost strangling itself. Both sides will be pleased to earn some reward and the Dens Parkers happy that they did not go down at Kilbowie again.
However, this was hardly a 90 minutes worth waiting an extra two days for, and the 1350 fans, although they saw a lot of effort, could not have been happy with the lack of guile.
The ferocious urgency for Premier points was quickly shown by the eagerness of both sides in the opening minutes, but it was Dundee, after nine minutes, who came near to opening the scoring.
Bankies' veteran defender Jim Fallon, making his return after missing 11 games through injury, almost gifted the Dens Parkers the opener when he made a mess of a passback.
The eager Harvey nipped in, but alert keeper Gallacher swiftly came off his line to block the striker's shot.
That immediately provoked a reply from Clydebank, and in the next minute striker Mike Larnach slid away from Smith before releasing a dipping 25- yard shot which the diving Geddes pushed down one-handed then swooped on to complete his clearance.
With both sides showing no signs of flinching in the tackle, referee McGinlay was kept occupied in a constant stream of free kicks Dundee twice threw away fine opportunities by failing to even test Gallacher after fouls on the edge of the penalty area.
The feeling that Dundee were probably a little more danger ous in the penalty area during the first half was emphasised when they again came close to breaking the deadlock two
The keeper again missed a corner and Connor almost forced the ball over the line but Fallon popped up just in time to clear.
In the next minute Moore had the ball in the net at the other end, but there was no doubt that he had fouled before bringing the ball under control and the score was rightly disallowed.
It was Dundee's turn to breath a sigh of relief in 52 minutes when a Larnach shot on the turn swept only inches past Geddes's right-hand upright.
The game disintegrated as the rain increased and tempers be- gan to flare with Treanor, in 6 minutes, then Brown, fou minutes later, being booked for needless fouls.
A sudden flurry by Dundee midway through the half once again underlined they could create chances and Gallagher was twice forced into fine saves.
