Match Report

Newspaper extract from The Sunday Post.

Hibs must love playing Dundee. This was there sixth consecutive win over the Dens Parkers in the Premier League. And I'm afraid Archie Knox's men rarely looked like reversing the trend.

Neither side, to be fair, was helped by the nasty swirling wind which made judgement tricky, ball control difficult and composed football impossible.

With passes sailing beyond their destination in the teeth of the gale and cross balls hanging in the air like kites, all the combatants could offer in place of inspiration was endeavour, and there Hibs held all the aces.

Not that the first-half suggested they were any more adept at figuring out the windy conditions than their visitors. My first incident of note was the booking of McCormack for a foul on Durie after 31 minutes, but Hibs made the break through at a vital time.

Irvine crossed from the right, McGeachie headed lamely across the face of the goal and. Paul Kane tucked the loose ball smartly home.

With new boy Gordon Durie looking lively, Hibs seized the initiative. And it was from one of the burly 18-year-old's long throw-ins that Hibs cemented their win.

His shy was nodded on by Irvine, and Kane scored his fifth goal of the season with a clever bicycle kick.

Best players in what was only Hibs second win in ten games, were Gordon Rae, Jackie McNamara, and Paul Kane. Gordon Durie did well and will do even better with some full time train- ing under his belt.

Dundee? Admittedly they were without three strikers, but they were a shadow of the side 1 watched trounce their city neigh. bours earlier this season. Rafferty and Brown couldn't be faulted for effort.

In addition to McCormack, ??Geachie was booked for grabbing Rice firmly round the waist and Schaedler joined him for a foul on Rafferty.
