Newspaper extract from The Sunday Post.
Ever wondered how to win friends and influence people?
Well, you should have been with me in the stand at Rugby Park to see Dundee's six-foot stopper lan MacDonald give the prime example of the year.
But friends? Just under 2000 success-starved spectators. The person being influenced? Dundee boss Donald Mackay, who replaced lan with 20 minutes remaining.
However, the damage had already been done.
With latecomers still arriving, MacDonald made a terrible mess of a passback.
McGivern intercepted, brought out a fine save from Kelly, and Gallagher turned in the rebound for Killie's second goal of 1983. But even worse was to follow.
Not long into the second period, big lan sent a McGivern flick towards goal with his knee.
That sent Gallagher clear and after he had been "decked" in rounding the 'keeper, Robert Clark neatly slotted away the spot kick.
And so, with more than a little help from Ian, the hosts notched only their second league win of the season.
That point at Ibrox seven days previous seems to have done wonders for their confidence and now they've grabbed a foothold on the slippery slope to Division One.
The visitors weaved some pretty patterns after that early setback but failure to hit the target on half a dozen occasions cost them dear.
Indeed, their most dangerous forward turned out to be Jimmy Murphy, a substitute for Stephen after Killie's second.
He had blocked, a by net-bound drive team-mate Eric Sinclair no less, before producing the save of the day from McCulloch with dipping 20-yarder
Murphy apart, Dundee's deadliest were Fraser, Ferguson. and Mackie while Robert Clark, McGivern, MacLeod, and Gallagher were best for the hosts.
Mr Ramsay's pencil was twice called into operation, to note Glennie for a foul on McGivern and Simpson for failing to retreat at a free-kick.
