Newspaper extract from The Sunday Post .
Dundee were no great shakes, but then Thistle had the shakes so a home win was never really on.
Admittedly the Jags had their walking wounded with Rough unable to take goal kicks, due to a groin injury and Whittaker with a bandaged right wrist. Even so, they were pretty clueless on the whole.
Dundee were much more inventive and their goals were things of beauty.
For the first Smith headed a Mackie corner into the crowded goalmouth and Sinclair nipped between Rough and two hesitant home defenders to open the scoring.
No. 2 was even better. From a 25 yard free-kick Cammy Fraser rifled a grounder into Rough's right hand corner. Thistle's defensive wall looked like a vandalised chestnut fencing.
Fraser will have to watch it. That's three super goals he has scored in the last four games!
With Dundee surprisingly in a defensive mood after the break, Thistle came more into it. Geddes stopped a Dunlop piledriver and an O'Hara header superbly. And a back-header from colleague Cameron was also tricky.
In the second half, Kidd was booked for a bit of hanky panky while taking a throw-in. But nobody expected the amazing row which erupted twelve minutes from time.
George McGeachie fouled O'Hara then grappled with him and was sent packing. O'Hara was booked for his seemingly innocent part in the stramash.
Name McKinnon, Dunlop. and Watson and you have all the Firhill pass marks. Getting harder to see daylight in Jags' tunnel. Geddes, Cameron, Fraser, Smith, Glennie, and Mackie were Dundee toppers.
