"We have got to take something from this game," said Dundee manager Donald Mackay before the kick-off. Well, Dundee got a point but it's very doubtful if the Dens boss would be satisfied with this performance.
As for Raith, youngster Colin Harris was completely blotted out by the experienced Bobby Glennie, and they too showed little ability in the art of goal scoring.
Raith, however, were the more. aggressive side in the first half with Ballantyne and Steel scorning good chances but truth to tell the chances were more the result ta very uncertain Dundee 'keeper in the opening stages.
Best effort of the match came from Donald Urquhart after 21 minutes. His powerful shot from 25-yards left keeper Geddes helpless, but the ball struck the junction of bar and post and sailed harmlessly over.
After having only one testing shot at the home keeper in the opening period a neat free-kick move and a fine shot from Barr Dundee stepped up the pace in the second-hall with Ian Fleming being the best on display.
He should have done better, however, when, having rounded "keeper McDermott, he shot tamely past the empty goal..
The fans twice saw the ball in the net, once for each side, but referee McGunnigle correctly chalked both scores off. Much more debatable was his booking of three players, Urquhart, Shirra, and Fleming.
