A first-half double by Eric Sinclair put Dundee on the road to victory-but the man who teed-up both chances was recent signing Cammy Fraser.
First, the midfield man burst through to the by-line and drove a superb pass full across the face of the goal where Sinclair was waiting to convert.
Then Fraser laid the ball along the 18-yard line where Sinclair took pot-shot through a ruck of defenders. "Keeper Allan was unsighted and the ball bounced into the net off the post.
Ironically, it was Fraser who prevented Sinclair from getting his hat-trick late in the game. Eric's rocket shot was blocked by his Dundee team-mate, prone on the six yard line.
Falkirk could count them selves unlucky to be two down at half-time. And at the break they substituted two defenders with two midfield men.
This rearranged line-up almost paid dividends when a McRoberts cross was headed against the bar by Perry.
However, the decisive goal came at the other end. Mackie chased after a long clearance, rounded keeper Allan and slotted the ball into the net.
There was a hint of off-side about this one. As the game progressed, Dundee put a strangle-hold on proceedings and rounded things off with a gem of a goal.
Schaedler dashed up the left wing and crossed a high ball to the far post. Sinclair headed it back to Fletcher who scored with a brilliant overhead kick.
So the clouds are lifting at Dens Park. Every Dundee man earned his corn with Fraser, Glennie and Sinclair Just shading the others. For Falkirk, Mackin and Perry showed loads of determination - perhaps a little too much, since both were booked in the first half, Mackin for tripping Fletcher, and Perry for fouling Mackle.
