Newspaper extract from The Sunday Post.
Dundee have never found Dunfermline a happy hunting ground, and their latest visit was no exception.
The part-time Fifers were a bit overawed by their full-time opponents at the start, but Dundee's domination lasted only 20 minutes.
The Fifers couldn't match the individual talents of the Dens Parkers, but they soon realised that Dundee's pretty patterns were getting nowhere.
Also, the Fifers twigged that the visitors' inexperienced goalkeeper, Geddes, was suspect with high cross balls. and the Dundee defence were twice in trouble even before the vital goal arrived.
First, Geddes floored right-back Barr with punch as a the defender headed a high cross over the crossbar. Minutes later he hesitated in leaving his goal-line and injured the other full-back, Schaedler, as the pair scrambled the ball for a corner.
However, the Fifers were not to be denied, and a corner from O'Brien was headed down by McNaughton. As the Dundee defence stood rooted to the spot, Leonard crashed the ball into the net.
The rest of the match is a catalogue of basic Dundee errors in their effort to find a rhythm, and a frustrated Fleming was booked for a needless foul on Thomson.
Dundee substituted Shirra for Murphy in an effort to turn the tide and although Fleming did manage a great flying header, Whyte made a brilliant stop at the foot of the post to ensure Dunfermline a merited victory.
