Match Report

Thistle overran Dundee in the first half then gave it all away as the Dens Park side put in an incredible second half performance.

The fightback began in the 50th minute with a Peter Millar goal which stunned everyone-including himself!

Jimmy Murphy rolled a free kick to Millar and the right half hit a shot from 30 yards which was deflected by two Thistle defenders before the ball finished in the net.

Then Tommy Gemmell's men turned on the pressure in the driving rain and in 75 minutes the ever-alert Pirie head-flicked the ball past Alan Rough to equalise.

A stunner for Thistle but worse was to follow. With seven minutes left Dundee again took the high road and Sinclair raced in to head the ball behind the despairing Rough for the winner.

It was all so different in the first 45 when Thistle seemed set for victory.

They poured in on Donaldson's goal and despite some great saves by the 'keeper it was no surprise when Thistle went ahead in 14 minutes. Donald Park raced in, tamed the ball and shot low into the net.

Thistle continued on top and Donaldson tipped over a Melrose header and then scrambled the ball away from McAdam's feet.

But there was no denying McAdam and he got the second in 35 minutes.

That seemed to be that....but Dundee had other ideas.
