Match Report

Newspaper extract from Aberdeen Press and Journal.

Dundee started as if they meant to run Akademisk Copenhagen out of the game before half time and in the end left the 10,000.crowd wondering about their side's UEFA Cup chances.

Scottish sides have in the past been fooled into believing their European amateur opponents were nothing more than a formality to be swept aside and Dundee now join the list.

With only 30 seconds of the game gone Bryce had Henriksen in action to turn a fierce drive round the post and minutes later the inside man again had the Dane at his best with a rocket shot from the edge of the box.

With eight minutes of the game gone BRYCE sent in an unsavable shot from the edge of the box. But the Dens Park fans had a 22-minute wait for goal No. 2 WALLACE did the damage when he fired home from close in after Henriksen had dropped the ball.

Five minutes later BRYCE scored Dundee's third goal when he lashed home from the left.

But Dundee were in line for a nasty shock as the Danes grabbed one back. Carlsen sent in a fine shot which Hewitt was forced to turn round and from the resultant corner CARLSEN rose to head home in the 48th minute.

The Dens Parkers started the second half in great style and Bryce, the best of an average forward line, was only inches away in the opening minutes.

But it was the Danes who produced the shocks and in the 61st minute they reduced the leeway to one. CARLSEN was again the hero when he blasted home from 25 yards.

Three minutes later LAMBIE raised Dundee's sagging hopes when he fired home a Jimmy Wilson cross. Both sides used only one their two substitutes. Akademisk brought on Alstrup for Yde and Dundee Kinninmonth with Lambie.
