Biography

Ian Munro enjoyed an illustrious career as a player with St Mirren, Hibs, Rangers, Stoke City. Sunderland and Dundee United, before retiring in 1985-86 during his third spell at Easter Road.

Munro was only manager at Dens for only a very short time during season of 1991-92, becoming manager after Gordon Wallace had resigned to join Dunfermline. Ironically, the last club he had been in charge of was Dunfermline.

Ian lasted roughly five months at the club, but by signing McCall and Gallagher assured Dundee of promotion back into the Premier League. In his first real month in the job, he secured victories over Hamilton 3-1, Partick Thistle 6-2 and Kilmarnock 2-0 all away from home and all against League contenders.

In all, Munro won eleven games out of twenty five games and lost just four, but his record didn't prevent Simon Stainrod being appointed in his place.
